About Uruguay

Known as the "oriental republic", Uruguay is one of the smallest of the South American countries. The capital, Montevideo, hosts more than half of Uruguay's population. The world flocks to Uruguay for the beauty of its endless natural sceneries, the variety of historical sites and the warmth of the Uruguayans, being one of the distinctive symbols of the country. Uruguay has wonderful beaches for all tastes; from the unspoiled deserted spots up to the trendy ones with their musical shows, and from those with wild waves up to the family oriented retreats. There are also the glamorous hotspots, natural meadows and extensive wetlands, bird and whale watching, thermal springs and world heritage historical centers. The country maintains benchmark sustainability with the careful preservation and concern for the environment.
